Getting Started

    Use the buttons at the bottom of the page to select different functions.

    The following content area skills lists are available on request:

    Add a Content Area
    Touch the Content Areas button at the bottom of the page to display the list of Content Areas.
    Touch "+" in the top right.


    Touch in the field and then type the name of the new Content Area.
    Touch Done.


    Touch a Content Area name to add a Skill.
    Touch a button at the bottom of the page for a different page.


    Return to Getting Started

    Add a Skill
    Touch the Content Areas button at the bottom of the page to display the list of Content Areas.
    Touch a Content Area name to display the list of Skills for that Content Area.
    Touch "+" in the top right.


    Touch in the second field and then type the name of the new Skill.
    Touch the button in the lower right of the keyboard to close the keyboard.
    This is a highest level skill. Do not select a parent level Skill in the top field.
    If desired, touch below Description of Skill to enter a long name or description.
    Touch Done.


    Touch "+" in the top right to continue adding new Skills.


    Touch in the second field and then type the name of the new Skill that belongs to the Skill section just entered above.
    You do not need to indent, the app will automatically indent the name of the new Skill.
    Touch the button in the lower right of the keyboard to close the keyboard.
    If the Skill name is very long, shorten the name so that you can recognize the Skill;
    then, touch the area below Description of Skill and type the full name of the Skill.
    Touch "i" in the field above the name to select the parent level Skill.


    In the list of names that appeared, touch the name of a Skill and slide up until the desired name
    of the parent Skill is highlighted in the middle.
    Then touch Done on the right just above the list of names that appeared.


    Touch Done again in the top right.


    Touch Done in the top left.


    Repeat to add all of the Skills for the Content Area.


    Hint: entering new Skills in reverse order within a parent Skill will reduce reordering.
    Refer to the section on Content Areas for more information about reordering and editing Skills.
    Touch a button at the bottom of the page for a different page.


    Return to Getting Started

    Add a Student
    Touch Classes at the bottom of the page.
    Then touch "+" at the top right.


    Type the class name.
    Then touch Done.
    Note: to close the keyboard, touch the button in the lower right hand corner of the keyboard.


    Should look something like this.
    Touch "+" at the top right to enter another Class.
    Touch the name of a Class to add a Student to the Class.


    Touch "+" at the top right.


    Type the student name.
    Then touch Done.


    Should look something like this.
    Touch "+" at the top right to enter another Student.
    Touch the name of a Student to view that Student.

    To view a Student
    Touch Classes at the bottom of the page.
    Touch the name of a Class.
    Then touch the name of a Student.
    The Edit button is for use later on after you have added a Group.
    Touch the Observation button on the right to start an Observation of a Student.
    Touch the Needs button on the right to enter Needs for a Student.
    Touch "<" at the top left to return to the previous page.
    Note: the text immediately to the right of "<" will vary depending on how you arrived at this page.
    After you have started an Observation, there will also be buttons on the right for Goals and Strengths.


    Return to Getting Started

    Add a Group
    Touch Groups at the bottom of the page.
    Then touch "+" at the top right.


    Type the group name.
    Then touch Done.
    Note: to close the keyboard, touch the button in the lower right hand corner of the keyboard.


    Should look something like this.
    Touch "+" at the top right to enter another Group.
    Touch the name of a Group to view that Group.


    Return to Getting Started

    View a Group
    Touch Groups at the bottom of the page.
    Then touch the name of a Group.
    Touch the Edit button on the left to add students to a Group.
    Touch the Observation button on the right to start an Observation of a Group.
    Touch the Needs button on the right to enter Needs for a Group.
    Touch "<" at the top left to return to the previous page.
    Note: the text immediately to the right of "<" will vary depending on how you arrived at this page.
    Touch the name of a Student to view that Student.
    After you have started an Observation, there will also be buttons on the right for Goals and Strengths.

    To add a Student to a Group
    Touch Groups at the bottom of the page.
    Then touch the name of a Group.
    Touch the Edit button on the left above the list of students.


    The list of Students on the right that are not in the Group is a list of all Students.
    Touch "i" to the right of In Class to select a Class.
    If a Class is selected, then only the Students in that Class will be displayed.


    Touch the name of a Class that appeared.


    Then touch Done.


    Touch the name of a Student that you would like to add to the Group.
    Touch the Add to Group button in the center of the page.


    Touch "<" in the top left to return to the previous page.
    Note: the text immediately to the right of "<" will vary depending on how you arrived at this page.

    Add a Group for a Student
    Touch Classes at the bottom of the page.
    Touch the name of a Class.
    Then touch the name of a Student.
    Touch the Edit button on the left above the list of groups.


    Touch one or more Group names on the right.


    Touch the Add for Student button in the center of the page.


    Touch "<" in the top left to return to the previous page.
    Note: the text immediately to the right of "<" will vary depending on how you arrived at this page.

    Start an Observation
    Touch Observation at the bottom of the page.
    If you would like Today's Date inserted in Observation comments, touch the slider switch to turn on that feature.
    Touch "i" on the right of Content Area.


    Touch the name of a Content Area that appeared.
    Then touch Done.


    Observation for a Student records only for that Student.
    Observation for a Group records for that Group but also records each Skill observed for all Students in that Group.
    Use Class to restrict the list of Students to those in a Class.
    Touch "i" on the right of a Group or Student.


    Touch the name of a Student or Group that appeared.
    Then touch Done.


    Touch the Start Observation button to start an Observation.


    Note: the Skills used as examples are not included with this app.

    Touch a Skill on the left.
    Touch a scoring symbol on the right. Note: key at the bottom left has meanings for colors.
    Repeat for each Skill observed. Observing a skill heading will make the same change for all skills under that heading.
    Note: touch screen and slide up to view further down the list of skills.
    Then touch Done.


    Touch "<" to return to the previous page or press a button at the bottom of the page.


    Your list of scoring codes can be chosen, if you are using the optional Standards-based Grading Rubric.
    The optional Standards-based Grading Rubric is available by pressing Tools at the bottom of the page.


    If you are using the optional Standards-based Grading Rubric, then a scoring code will be used for the observation.
